The Filtration Spectrum – At One Glance

The Filtration Spectrum

Filtration describes different technologies to separate materials based on their particle size (nm, µm) or molecular weight. In membrane filtration, these are micro-filtration and ultra-filtration. Nano-filtration and reverse osmosis to separate solutes (e.g., seawater desalination) are considered to be non-classical filtration processes. Every one of these methods is used to separate particles and molecules specific to their size and weight.

In collaboration with Daria Chrobok of DC SciArt, we illustrated the various filtration technologies and brought them to life in an interactive artwork.
